How to Show Asymptotes in GeoGebra

You can use CAS and Algebra View to work with rational functions, and find asymptotes or the values of the function.

You can plot rational functions in Graphics View in the same way as all other functions.

GeoGebra has its own command for asymptotes: Asymptote(<Object>).

GeoGebra Instruction 1

Asymptotes in CAS

1.
Open CAS under GeoGebra icon View in GeoGebra icon Menu.
2.
Start typing Asymptote(<Object>) in CAS. Replace <Object> with the name of your function or expression and press Enter.
3.
The solution given is of the form
{y = a,x = b},

where y = a is a horizontal or the oblique asymptote, and x = b is a vertical asymptote.

GeoGebra Instruction 2

Asymptotes in Graphics View

1.
Open Algebra View and Graphics View under GeoGebra icon View in GeoGebra icon Menu.
2.
Type your function into Algebra View and press Enter. The function is then saved in Algebra View.
3.
Use the command Asymptote(<Object>) and replace <Object> with the name of your function. The asymptotes will then appear in Graphics View.
